Many science organizations, the European Commission and funding institutions support open-access publishing or even make it mandatory. The Presidential Chair of the University of Oldenburg has adopted an Open-Access Policy and signed the "Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities".
Since January 1, 2016, the German Science Foundation (DFG) and the Presidential Chair fund open-access publications by scientists and scholars from our university.
Information about open-access publishing is available for topics such as
- Open-access publishing in scientific journals
- Publishing on /oops/, the Oldenburg-Online-Publication-Server
- Dissertation and habilitation theses on /oops/
- Secondary-Publication Right

Open Journal Systems OJS
The Library and Information System (BIS) operates and maintains the publication software Open Journal Systems (OJS) of the Public Knowledge Projects. OJS facilitates the publication process of open-access journals (with the university press BIS-Verlag) for scientists and scholars of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg.
OJS is an important element among the open-access activities of the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg. BIS and BIS-Verlag advise and support you in planning and implementing your open-access journal.
Open Access in EU-Projects
The BIS has—in cooperation with the Office of European Affairs—published a brochure containing information and explanations regarding open-access publishing in EU/ERC projects (mainly within the Horizon 2020 framework). Additional info is available at the
